The Asus Zenfone 5 features in the middle order of the Zenfone serious, yet seems to be their best offering in the smartphone market up till now. The 5-inch Zenfone 5 is packed with powerful hardware, and we can safely say that it is a sensible investment considering the affordable price tag. If you're looking for a phone under Rs. 10000, the Asus Zenfone 5 should defiantly feature somewhere on your list.

Asus have corrected their mistake of the substandard screen of the Zenfone 4 by giving the Zenfone 5 a 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. Although a 5-inch screen looks better in Full HD, Asus have held back on that feature due to the Zenfone 5's aggressive pricing. Asus has included a screen optimization feature called Asus Splendid, which gives you control over color temperature and saturation. The display is satisfactory when it comes to viewing images and video, especially with the auto brightness feature on.

Asus has reskinned the stock Android OS with their own custom Zen UI, which is quite speedy when it comes to daily routine tasks. This is due to the generous 2 GB RAM powering the device. Asus has also opted for an Intel dual-core processor, instead of the industry favorite Qualcomm chipsets installed in most smartphones today. The specifications are satisfactory considering the low price, although most phones under Rs. 10000 are opting for the more powerful quad-core and octa-core processors.

The Asus Zenfone 5 has an 8 MP primary camera that has a flash to take better pictures in low-light conditions. Asus has included a custom camera app that offers a plethora of extra bells and whistles. Although the app has an intuitive experience, a few drawbacks like slow image processing and faulty auto focus may affect your pictures. The Zenfone 5 handles light, or the lack of it, very well due to the inclusion of HDR mode. If you can deal with the sluggishness of taking pictures, the Zenfone 5 produces above average pictures that are slightly better than the ones taken with other phones under Rs. 10000.

Battery life is questionable, with the occasional issue of overheating. The Asus Zenfone 5 will make it through the day with normal usage, but doesn't have the stamina seen amongst some of its peers. Over all, the Asus Zenfone 5 is a value for money. You should definitely consider opting for one if you're looking to buy a smartphone under Rs. 10000.
