Sony Xperia Z+ flaunts a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch Triluminos display and gives you a crystal clear viewing experience with an unparallel colour palette and great viewing angles. It is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core (1.5GHz quad-core + 2GHz quad-core) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. Sony Xperia Z Plus is armed with an excellent 20.7MP autofocus rear camera which is capable of shooting 4K videos and a 5 MP front facing camera. Apart from its performance, display, storage and camera, the battery life is really disappointing and the smartphone tends to overheat even with simple use.

Sony has made to its Z-series flagship line, which would usually get glossed over when just comparing specs, and we do like that the company tried to concentrate on things like battery life and camera quality rather than just bumping up specifications...

It isn't a wholly bad phone, but the camera overheating issues are a fundamental flaw you cannot ignore. Overheating when shooting 4K video is one thing, but doing so when just taking photos is something else...

The changes made on the Sony Xperia Z3+ are minimal at best, and considering the Z3 was launched not so long ago it's a little difficult to fully justify Sony's persistence on its short reboot cycles...

In its current state, I cannot recommend the Xperia Z3+ to anyone. If the camera app did not have any fancy AR features or 4K video, and only overheated when worked incredibly hard on a very hot day, then fair enough – it would be an 8/10 phone...

Like previous devices, the Sony Xperia Z3+ is a nice smartphone. Although we like the capless USB port and the addition of the Snapdragon 810, it's simply far too similar to the Xperia Z3 to justify an upgrade...

The Sony Xperia Z3+ is, as the avoidance of the Z4 moniker implies, an attempt at a careful update of select parts of the Xperia Z3 and not a true successor. There are subtle improvements in the design, such as the open USB port and the almost-invisible speaker placement...

Sony's Xperia Z3+ isn't an essential upgrade if you already own the Xperia Z3 or even the Xperia Z2, with just a slight tweaking of the specs and a couple of new features to boast of. Those heating issues are also very real and concerning, especially when using the camera...
